Guest game design lecture

Robert and I had the honour of giving a guest lecture today at our alma mater, Victoria University of Wellington. Neat experience, doubly so at our old school. The course was MDDN-343, Advanced Computer Game Design, a course that didn’t exist fifteen years ago when we were at uni. Back then Computer Science was about it for game development. Not that I regret it!

We covered our origin story, and the path that Mini Metro has been on from Ludum Dare entry to the commercially-successful Early Access release. We think it went well, hard to tell for sure because the slides were quite dry. When Robert’s doing a presentation he puts a gag on every second page so he can tell if anyone’s paying attention.

If you’re interested in the content, you can grab the slides (41 page PDF, 4.4MiB).
